I hope you don't mind, but I'm posting this here in regard to your Doc Martens MiE vs. MiC post, because the comments are no longer working for that post. I wouldn't bother, except I thought you might be interested in my MiC Docs.

First I want to say that I'm surprised to hear that the leather on your MiE Docs is tougher to break in, and that the soles are more uncomfortable, because everything I've read says just the opposite. Considering your first hand experience with both, I'm not doubting you and I'm glad to know this.

In comparison to your 1460/90 Docs, I have some 1460 MiC Docs, that were bought from the dmusastore, and I thought you might like to know how they compare:

1. The information on the tongue resembles your MiE Docs.
2. They do have the top collar.
3. The insole is black cloth and has nothing written on it.
4. They have the logo stamped on the side.
5. I don't have an old pair to compare the leather too, but I consider mine to be pretty soft. And I may be wrong, but I thought that different leathers were often used on the 1460, regardless of where they were made.

It's also worth noting that even when Doc Martens were made in England, they were not all made in the same factory. It is my understanding that the shoe was licensed out to various shoe factories that made different versions, which sometimes used the name Doc Martens, but not always. Both the quality of craftsmanship and materials often depended upon the factory that made the shoe, so the quality would vary some even with the original MiE shoe, which is my main point in writing.

So, I don't bother worrying about where mine were made, but I can't deny my desire for some Solovairs to see how they compare, since Solovair was making Doc Martens before Doc Marten.

Isn't that their new guitarist? It looks like Josh is closest to the camera and using his regular black telecaster.

He has used a Jazzmaster before, though - he's using one in their video for Crushcrushcrush from the last album, though it doesn't really sound like one in the song itself. (I also thought he really destroyed that JM in the video, but then I freeze-framed it and the destroyed guitar is a ringer.)

I still don't really like his tone, although it is better on this album than the last one. I don't think he's a "tone guy", though. He just kind of cranks up the distortion and calls it done. Usually I don't notice it but whenever the rest of the instruments cut out and it's just him, it sounds really thin. Same for any overdubbed little riffs, they all sound cheesy. But a lot less so on this album, so maybe he is doing something different. The end of "All I Wanted", where the final chord sustains for like a minute, would have been horrible on the last album - but it sounds pretty good on this one. So maybe he's learning.

you can tell too. BNE has the best of the emo energy without that horrible processed cheese guitar sound.
