Oh, by the way...

It's hard for me to even believe this, given that this is just my little blog about my crappy life and whatever I find interesting or annoying, but earlier this month I passed 100,000 page views. I'm currently at 104,357. So! Happy birthday to me, or something. Seriously, though, that's a number that most big commercial sites hit in a week (or even a day), but I think it's pretty good for some random guy's blog about nothing in particular.

Since you've been "Entertaining the masses since 1763", I suppose this day had to come! (^_^)v

  2. Thanks, peepz. I think I've really had this thing up here since like 2003, but I got pretty much zero traffic for the first 3 years. Nowadays it's pretty steady. Almost all of it's Google, though - that's the problem with having no theme.

I keep trying to write more stuff about NYC - that's supposedly my theme, and what a lot of my Google traffic is coming in for - but it's hard to write about your hometown. Everything that other people probably think of as amazing and interesting, I just think of as boring or annoying.

Know what my most popular post is? Best Ramen in NYC.

  3. thats funny that you mentioned that because that post is how i found your blog! and then i was hooked because you were personable, honest and you didn't sound arrogant or know-it-all. =)

sometimes i feel pressured to find a theme, but if art is to imitate life and vice versa, there really is no theme.

  4. Awww, you're so nice! People like you really make me wish I could write more, and about more different kinds of things, but I just don't have enough time or enough that I feel like writing about. I need a big long vacation, drive across the country or something, give me some inspiration.

I gotta change my blog's theme one of these days too - I am sooooo sick of this theme (it's been the same for like 4 years), but I've spent so much time customizing it that I don't even know all that I'd lose if I switched to another one at this point. It's looking so worn out to me by now, though.

Well, anyway, I really want to write more for you guys, my few regular readers...

About This Blog

This is increasingly not a blog about Alphabet City, New York. I used to live in the East Village and work on Avenue B, but I no longer do. Why don't I change the name if I'm writing about Japan and video games and guitars? Because New Yorkers are well-rounded people with varied interests, and mine have gone increasingly off the rails over the years. And I don't feel like changing the name. I do still write about New York City sometimes.
